Pintu Amaterasu

Choreography Concept

Dance could be a visual identity of a nation. In the sense, that I could represent the story of our ancestors, and their journey of self-discovery, through dance up until the present.. The creation of something new and moving forward to contextualize a new spirit and pay testimony to the labour of our fathers and mothers in establishing the character of Indonesia after independence, and her present role in the world.
Amaterasu Gate is a road that leads to the door of the Japanese cultural belief and Javanese culture belief. The sunlight of Amaterasu always brightens and protects Japanese society, lightening its path of progress. In Java, there is Nyi Roro Kidul who holds authority over the esoteric world of the Indian ocean, her presence is felt everywhere in the Javanese mind at is she who validates the appointment of Javanese kings thorugh her marriage with them. Another important element of Javanese culture is Dewi Sri, the goddess of fertility and earth, who blesses the harvest of rice the life staple of Java.
In this work, I try to combine the Japanese and Javanese, mythology and cosmology and explore how it has created similarities and differences in these cultures, and what questions the impact these differences pose.
This work has been inspired by my own respect for the awesome power of the universe and my concern that we, as humans, are losing our appreciation and recognition of the uniqueness of human experience and emotion. We should be aware of powers that our greater than ourselves, which means that our lives, do not have limited aims, but that we are part of a greater process.

Rousoku

Synopsis:
In my solitude,I remember a dream I ever got.It was about me,about the illutration of the journey of my life,my goodness and wickedness, all the things that make me frighten in facing the death,That dream leads me to a reflection of a realization of my life.I want to live with love without limits,self-submission,sincerrity in heart and soul…….in the world.
About Rousoku
Rousoku was inspired by a dream, which the dance got.It is considered as an expression of human's feeling who experiences fear, sadness, consciousness and sincerity that he wants achieving. The title of this work is Rousoku, that word is taken from Japanese language meant”Wak”.”Wak”,here,is the symbol of the enlightenment for human being. The dancer takes this title because the pronunciation of the word”Rousoku” is similar to the pronunciation of the word “Rasaku” in Javanese language, which is meant feeling. In this case,it refers to the dancer’s feeling when he gets that dream. At the time that dream makes a reflection on the surface for human, the enlightenment for their coming journey of their life is the result.
The theme of this work comes from the forms of a reflection of consciousness about human’s fate especially for the dancer himself who eager to achieve a submission and sincerity in his life.It is hoped that it can become a reflection towards the journey of human’s life, which is restricted by time and death. This work does not only exploit the whole for of the restriction that is a despair of human’s fear which are the reflection of consciousness in struggling to go through their life which will be re-passed,so that it can be understood as a reality of human life through it’s ordinary and acceptable phenomenon.
